For tango marathon organisers

Organise your tango marathon without spreadsheets

Collect registrations, select participants, manage role balance, the waitlist and post-acceptance payments in a single platform.

1

Registration first

Dancers register, without paying.

2

Selection next

You decide: role balance, couples, level, waitlist.

3

Payment only after acceptance

Only accepted participants pay for their place.

For organisers

Your whole marathon, at a glance

Statuses, role balance, payments and fill rate in real time. The end of cross-referenced spreadsheets.

The problem

The tool stack that wastes your time

Organising a marathon with selective admission today means juggling tools that don't talk to each other:

  • A form to collect pre-registrations
  • A spreadsheet to handle selection, role balance and couples
  • Manual emails to answer every participant
  • A separate payment tool, disconnected from your selection
  • A waitlist kept by hand, never up to date

The result: hours of rework, errors, and no reliable view of your event.

Why Media Luna

Built for selective admission, not for ticketing

Eventbrite or Cvent are well suited to classic ticketing. Media Luna answers a different need: running selective admission - making genuine selection decisions (role balance, geographic origin, level, couples), then converting them into payments and a filled event. It's a difference in kind, not in price.

The solution

From pre-registration to event day, all in one place

Media Luna does more than sell tickets. The platform covers the full cycle of a marathon with constrained admission, from pre-registration to access control on event day.

Mobile pre-registrations
A clear form, completed in minutes on mobile. Participants know their request has been received.
Assisted selection
Accept, waitlist or decline every request from a single review queue.
Role balance and quotas
Track the leader / follower balance and your geographic quotas in real time, without a single spreadsheet formula.
Couple registrations
A couple is handled as one unit: accepted or declined together, never an inconsistent half-decision.
Tickets, options and merch
Passes, day tickets, meals, t-shirts: build your catalogue and adjust your prices yourself, at any time.
Ambassadors
Give your promoters a code: their recruits are linked to them, with the discount and payment handled directly.
Payment after approval
Participants only pay once accepted, via Stripe. You collect payments without re-entering data or a separate payment tool.
Refunds
Refund a registration in one click, online or off-platform, up to the day before the event.
Managed waitlist
Promote a participant in one click, or let Media Luna trigger the promotion automatically based on your settings.
Reminders and expirations
Payment reminders and expiry of unpaid places: the platform takes care of it, with no manual follow-up.
QR code access control
On event day, your staff scan tickets in and out from a simple phone, with read-only access to everything else.
Live attendance
Track headcount and the hourly attendance curve, calculated from real entries and exits.

The project

Built in the field, not from a blank page

Media Luna is built from the real needs of tango marathon organisers: handling registrations, balancing roles, tracking couples, managing the waitlist and requesting payment at the right moment. The product is currently in a pre-pilot phase with a partner organiser, ahead of a wider opening.

Media Luna is designed for small organising teams, often volunteers, who want to stay in control without multiplying tools.

Founded by Jan Tumpach, tango dancer and DJ, with first-hand knowledge of the practices, codes and constraints of tango events.

Frequently asked questions

What organisers ask us

How do you manage pre-registrations for a tango marathon?
Dancers pre-register through a mobile form. All requests land in a single review queue, where you accept, waitlist or decline each one, without spreadsheets or manual emails.
Can you accept participants before asking them to pay?
Yes, that's the core of Media Luna. Payment is only triggered once a registration is accepted: you keep control over the selection, and only approved participants pay for their place.
Does Media Luna replace Eventbrite?
Eventbrite is designed for classic ticketing, where anyone who wants a ticket can buy one. Media Luna answers a different need: collecting registrations, making selection decisions (role balance, couples, level, origin), then taking payment after acceptance.
How do you handle the leader / follower balance?
You track the leader / follower balance, couples and selection criteria from the dashboard, without a single spreadsheet formula.
Can couples register together?
Yes. A couple is handled as one unit: accepted or declined together, never a half-decision. If one partner is promoted from the waitlist, the other follows automatically.
How does the waitlist work?
When a place opens up, you can promote someone from the waitlist and trigger their acceptance and payment journey.
Does it work for festivals, encuentros or workshops?
Yes. Festivals with classes are supported natively: public day-by-day programme, class choices at registration, waitlisted wishes on full classes, class-by-class fill tracking, full passes, seminars and packs. Encuentros and workshops use the same framework: registration, selection, payment after approval.
Are payments secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe. Media Luna never stores participants' card details.
How much does Media Luna cost?
No subscription, no setup fees. Media Luna takes a commission on collected payments: you only pay when your participants pay.
Can participants track their status?
Yes. Every dancer has their own space to follow the progress of their registration, acceptance, payment and ticket, without writing to you.
